Leopold Wacks
Are you related to, or do you know anything of, Leopold and Julia Wacks who lived in Leire during the First World War? They also had a house in Leicester, first in Tichborne St and later in St James Road. Leopold and his brother Morris (both born in Bristol, sons of Joseph Wacks, print seller) had settled in Leicester and were prominent members of the Leicester Hebrew Congregation. Any information or photographs gratefully received.
Leire Cricket XI
In 1904 the Leire Cricket team were the winners of the Lutterworth and District Challenge Cup. Their moment of glory was recorded in a photograph of which the History Group has a copy.
The silver cup in the photo has turned up and is currently held locally. When the competition ended, the cup was offered to Bitteswell Cricket Club as the most frequent winners.

Ethel Redfern
During research into the men listed on Leire's war memorial a sister's name has been found. Her full name was Ethel Grace Redfern, born in London in 1880, daughter of Frederick William Redfern. He died in Hastings in 1920 aged 70 and she married Jeremiah James O'Shea in 1911. Any information or photographs gratefully received.
John Frone Mason
This farmer was baptised in Ullesthorpe (Independent) in 1813, married Ann(e) Wheatl(e)y and had a child in 1855, whom they named Mary Jane. She, in turn, married William Thomas Barter- White, gent, in Coventry and, from her father, inherited various properties in Leire. Does anyone have any information on these properties (dates, former owners) or on the family itself?
