LEIRE PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on Tuesday 16th April 2002 in the Village Hall.
Those present:- Mrs J. Goodwin, Mrs. C. Cambers, Mrs D. Morgan Mr. F. Lambert, Mr. P.Pickering, Mr. Peter Fuchs, District Councillor and Mrs R. Bones (Clerk)
4221 Minutes of the previous meeting held
on Tuesday 19th March 2002 were read and approved. It was proposed by Mr. F.
Lambert and seconded by Mr P.Pickering these were a true record.
RESOLVED: That they be duly signed.
4222 Matters Arising - ACTION: Mrs Cambers and Mr. Pickering ii) Jubilee Mugs are on order but no reply has
been received in connection with the order placed. iii) Hedge on Dunton Road - Mrs Goodwin has been
in touch with the G.P.O. who stated that they only rent this property and are
not responsible for the maintenance. However, they agreed to contact the
maintenance person on our behalf and request that the hedge be cut. iv) Bus Shelter - Mr. Fuchs has offered to speak
with Harborough District Council to try and arrange for the roof to be put back
onto the bus shelter on the Ashby Lane. v) Tree Warden - Mr. Lambert has resigned from
the position due to amount of work that is expected of him. The Parish Council
was unaware that so much work was involved with this. 4223 Correspondence i) Parish Audit Services - Information in
connection with the new arrangements for the auditing of the accounts has been
received. Mrs Goodwin and the Clerk will look further into the new arrangements. ii) Mrs Warden - A letter has been received from
Mrs Warden advising us that David Warden wishes to give up his allotment on the
Frolesworth Road. There are now two allotments available for rent. A letter is
to be written to Father Derek requesting that he place an announcement in the
Church Newsletter. iii) Leicestershire and Rutland Assoc. - New
Support for Parish Councils - To be circulated. iv) Jackson & Co - Mrs A.E. Redfern
(deceased). The final amount, granted for help on the up-keep of Jubilee Walk,
has been received. This will be signed when Mrs Goodwin gives the authority to
the Clerk. v) D. Ryan - The full break down of the cost for
the re-pointing of the bridge on the Frolesworth Road has been received. A copy
of this is to be sent to Leicester County Council for their attention and
comment. vi) BTCV - A letter from the new Practical
Projects Officer for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers in
Leicestershire and Rutland has been received. This is to be placed on file i.e.
Jubilee Walk file. vii) Housing Advice and Information Days - A
leaflet has been received in connection with four housing advice and information
days, which are to take place over the next few months. The leaflet is to be
placed on the notice board. viii) Information has been received in connection
with Guidelines and Developers re Badgers. This information will be passed on to
Lamley Brothers. ACTION: Mrs Goodwin ix) Availability of community funding through
Vital Villages scheme - To be filed for future reference. This will be placed in
the Jubilee Walk file. xi) Whack-a-Ball Summer Junior Sports Programme -
The annual letter from Harborough District Council has been received asking if
the Playing Field can be used again for activities for children aged 5 - 11
during the week commencing Monday 19th August 2002. ACTION: Clerk xi) Items for Circulation - Standard Committee
Minutes, and HDC Minutes. 4224 Planning Planning Consent 4225 Queens Jubilee Celebrations - We have
been advised that the Main Street cannot be closed for the celebration party
which we hope will go ahead for the Queens Jubilee Celebration. Mrs Harris has
informed us that we are unable to close the street and she wishes to pass the
celebration back to the Parish Council. This will be discussed in full at the
Annual Open Meeting on the 21st May 2002. 4226 Parishioners Participation - None 4227 Jubilee Walk - Nothing to report 4228 Playing Field - Nothing to report 4229 Accounts The meeting closed at 10.00p.m.
i) War Memorial - Permission from the church is required before work on the
memorial can be carried out, and a cost of £83.00 is payable to the Church
Administrators. Father Derek will be consulted on this matter.
Post Meeting Note: The hedge has now been cut back.
x) Philip Cross, 01/01325/FUL - A reply has been received in connection with the
access gates not set back 5 metres from the highway boundary, Land Part OS 3961,
Broughton Lane. This is receiving attention and a full reply will be forwarded
to us as soon as possible
There was no objection to this, and a letter is to be sent advising of this.
i) 02/00509/FUL - Mr & Mrs M. Pope - Erection of porch to front of dwelling.
Inglenook, 11 Frolesworth Road, Leire.
